Disc game needs bodies

If it’s Wednesday, this must be Ultimate.

Or not.

It’s been a few weeks since The News reported that local longtime Ultimate Frisbee player Diana Jolly was starting up a new pick-up league. On Wednesday The News dropped by the field behind Ballenas Secondary School, and sure enough the place was jumpin’ as six people got in some Ultimate fun.

“We start at 6 p.m.” Jolly said after, adding “the turn out hasn’t been that great which is too bad — it’s a fun sport. I’m thinking if there are still low numbers I’m going to cancel (Wednesday nights) after June 23.”

Those close to the game are hoping the return of the sun will spur more people on to try their hand at the sport.
