Exciting Eaglecrest Ladies Golf trophy in Qualicum Beach

From the desk of Elizabeth Marsland comes word Irene Creally edged out Liz Gillies on Hole #16 to win the 2012 Eaglecrest Ladies Golf trophy in exciting fashion.

The consolation competition, played out among those who were knocked out in the first round, was won by Lillian Houg.

In other news, this year’s country-wide RCGA Pin Round competition is well under way, with three of Eaglecrest’s scheduled rounds already played. According to Marsland, RCGA rules specify a maximum of ten pin rounds in the course of the season, though most clubs, including Eaglecrest, opt for six.

Each club winner — the player with the lowest aggregate net score over her four best rounds — receives a pin at the end of the season.

The Pin Round days at Eaglecrest this year “have been plagued by damp and cold weather, to the extent that perseverance seemed at times almost as important as golf skill,” she said, pointing out only 12 players completed the most recent game, but even so, “some consistent leaders are emerging.”
