Ravensong Breakers

The Ravensong Aquatic Club are back after taking part in the B.C. AA short course championships in Chilliwack March 1-2.

Although the weather outside was cold with almost half a meter of snow, inside the pool the competition was fierce. The AA championships are the second provincial tier and a launching pad to to qualify for the AAA’s in July.

The Ravensong Breakers stood out with plenty of A and B finalists and an unprecedented three new AAA qualifying times:

Nicholas Bennett (10) 400 freestyle 5:59.34

Ethan Stannard (11) 400 freestyle 5:31.56

Jacob Brager (11) 200 backstroke 2:56.18

Brager placed fourth in the A final for the 200 back, Stannard placed second in the 400 and 200 free, Hannah Lorette placed seventh in the 800 free and won the B final in the 200 back, Kira Edwards placed eighth in the 200 back, first in the 400 free B final and third in the 200 back B final. Sydney Raduy placed third in the 400 free B final.

The Breaker standout was Jack Confortin with a stunning first in the 400 individual medley, second in the 400 free and thirrd in the 200 free. He was also second in the B final for the 200 IM and sixth in the B final for the 200 breaststroke.

Also attending were Nathaniel Hees, Ayden Jager, Mika Melnick and Katie Redenbach. Next up for the Breakers is the novice level Duncan Spring Invite, then Commonwealth Games Trials in Saanich at the end of March.
