Roller derby in Parksville

The Roller Derby is coming to Parksville this week and will see four teams battle it out on the oval track for supremacy.

Oceanside Place will be the site starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday night as the Harbour City Rollers take on the Undead Heart Throbs in the first of two matches that night.

The second match will see the Vancouver Island All Stars taking on the Thompson-Okanagan All Stars.

The doors open at 5 p.m. with tickets going for $10 for adults and $5 for kids. There will also be a Roller Derby Boot Camp going on all weekend as well. It’s an invite–only event, which will see skaters from all across B.C. and Washington state coming to take part.

“We had a great turn out last year and we’re hoping to re-create it again this weekend,” Harbour City Rollers team member Carly said.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun. We’re going to have two great matches happening and there’s going to be lots of hard hitting action.”
