Alycia Butterworth awarded

Former Oceanside Track and Field athlete Alycia Butterworth has achieved her third NCAA Div 1 Western Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week award for her 3,000m steeplechase race.

Her time (10:06) also set the all-time record for the WAC conference.

Butterworth, a Ballenas Secondary graduate, had her time meet the Canadian standard to represent Canada for the Under 23 North American-Carribean Athletic Championships which will be held in Kamloops in August. The  competition is only held every four years.

This was the third time she’s been named track athlete of the week this year and the fifth of her career.
