Genesis club boxers back in the ring

Members of the Genesis Boxing Club are stepping back in to the ring this weekend for their third fundraising event of 2014.

Event three, taking place Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at the Genesis Gym in Parksville, will feature members of the local club, the Nanaimo Boxing Club and a few new gyms added in.

“Our first two events were received real well and it’s reached a few other clubs on the Island,” Genesis owner Rick Rae said. “We’re hoping to see clubs from Victoria, Comox and Campbell River joining the fold for these events, which raise money for our local MS Society, the food bank and the SPCA.”

It’s the third sparring event that Rae, along with Berry Creswell of the Nanaimo club, have put on in an attempt to stoke the fire of boxing clubs all over the Island.

There will be plenty of good sparring bouts taking place and admission is by donation to any of the three charities.
