Parksville resident wins curling award

Curl B.C. has announced the winners for the 2014 Curl B.C. annual awards, taking place on June 14 in Coquitlam.

There is a wide range of categories, from male and female athlete of the year, team of the year, sponsor of the year and the friendship award.

The prestigious Jannette Robbins award, which goes to the curling builder of the year, will see a member of the Parksville Curling Club taking the top honour.

Mike West, who recently moved to the area from Victoria, will be the winner of the Jannette Robbins (Builder) award for 2014.

West has served on the Curl B.C. board for six years and has been Curl B.C.’s head statistician for five years.

As a part of both the Juan de Fuca Curling Association and the Parksville Curling Club this year.

West is a committed volunteer who is never too busy to help out the curling community, according to Curl B.C.
