Lawn bowling galore

There will be a pair of tournaments going on this weekend at both the Parksville and Qualicum Beach Lawn Bowling Club’s respectively.

In Parksville, the Sea Soil Classic will kick off this Friday and will run through to Sunday.

Games start at 2 p.m. Friday and will showcase bowlers from all over Vancouver Island and some from the mainland as well.

The Qualicum Beach Lawn Bowling Club will be holding their first annual Sylvia Gibb ladies pairs tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Sylvia Gibb was a member of the QBLBC since 1987 and continued to bowl well into her 90s thanks to the indoor facility. Gibb passed away in 2013.

This tournament will see teams from Parksville, Nanaimo, Courtenay and Port Alberni, all of whom have played either with or against Gibb. Games start at 10 a.m. Friday.
