Mike Squire awarded B.C. coach of the year

The 95th B.C. Hockey awards banquet saw nine awards being handed out this past weekend, one of which went to Oceanside Minor Hockey’s Mike Squire for coach of the year.

Squire has been one of the driving forces behind female hockey in Oceanside, thanks to his coaching, mentoring and support of the game.

He was awarded the coach of the year for his work this past year with two teams.

As the head coach of the Oceanside Icebreakers female peewee team, Squire helped guide the girls to the Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association (VIAHA) league finals.

Squire was also the co-coach of the VIAHA female midget A Impact team that won their league, numerous tournaments and captured the B.C. Hockey Provincial title.
