Drive for world title in QB July 4

The RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship will once again have a qualifier taking place here in Qualicum Beach.

Last year saw two competitors from Vancouver Island head to the world’s in Mesquite, Nevada. Matt Leslie and Jesse Peterson qualified in the two available spots to participate in the world’s with Leslie finishing in the top 24 overall.

This year’s event will take place from July 4 to July 6 at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort.

Qualifying will run on July 4 and 5 (Friday and Saturday) with the regional final taking place on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.

The top four hitters from each qualifier, six in all, will earn a spot in Sunday’s double elimination format final.

There will be two spots up for grabs in the open division at the World Long Drive Championship, which is going to be held from September 20–27.
