PV lawn bowlers dominate

The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club continued to bring home the green on the green this past weekend in Nanaimo. Of the 32 teams that competed, Parksville finished with four in the top six.

The team of Jan and Stu MacNaughton took first, while Courtenay’s Vern Greenhill and April Gilchrist took second. In third was the Parksville team of Gary Robinson and Praiwan Davis, beating out club mates Duncan Burke and Sandi Mitchell. Fifth went to John Wilson and Jane Nielsen of Qualicum Beach and rounding out sixth was Nanaimo’s Rick Quibell and Mary Mulligan. Lakeside Gardens Retirement Community of Nanaimo sponsored the two-day tournament.

The PLBC will be holding its club fours tournament this weekend and will host the nationals Sept. 7-13. The very best lawn bowling pairs in Canada will be on hand at the facility for what should be an entertaining event.
