The Oceanside Generals' get a new office in Parksville
The Save-On-Foods Oceanside Generals’ changes continue, this time off the ice, as the staff now have a new office to call home.
Still under construction, the new digs are located in Wembley Mall, next to the Subway restaurant. The team office features a meeting room for the coaching staff, a place for the team’s jerseys to hang and dry and a training room, with skate sharpening and all the amenities needed for both practices and games.
“It was a nice move for us, for sure,” head coach Jason Johns said from his new office. “We weren’t expecting to still be in a temporary office coming in to the season. With all the new renovations going on, they took down the old office so we’ve upgraded from having two rooms to having individual rooms for all the coaches as well as a meeting room.”
This is just one of the many changes taking place for the Generals this season, who are hoping to see a good turnout once again for their home opener this Saturday night. Opening festivities will feature MLA Michelle Stillwell, Arizona Coyotes owner (and Qualicum Beach resident) Bill Dutton and a few other surprises, starting around 6:30 p.m. (Faceoff at 7:30 p.m.)
Save-On-Foods will be giving out free tickets to the home opener at the store’s courtesy counter beginning Thursday (today), with a limit of two tickets per person.
