Skip Lynne Noble and her Qualicum Beach rink finished strong to claim bronze at the 2017 Everest Canadian Seniors Curling Championships last week in Fredericton, NB.

Noble curled with third Penny Shantz of Parksville, second Colleen Robson and lead Kathy Branch of the Comox Valley, and alternate Jackie Clement.

Noble’s Team B.C. stole the final two ends to claim a 6-3 win over Alberta in the bronze-medal final, putting a strong finish to an up-and-down tournament for the team.

The B.C. Senior Women’s champions got off to a fantastic start and rolled unbeaten into the championship round as the top seek.

In the championship round, a loss to Alberta’s Team King and Saskatchewan’s Team Anderson dropped the team into a loser-out game against Manitoba. It was no easy feat to beat Manitoba’s Team Ursel, but they pulled off a 7-3 victory.

The win put them in the semis against Ontario, where they lost 7-4. That set up a rematch with Team Alberta with a medal on the line, and this time Noble avenged the earlier loss to secure the bronze medals.

On the men’s side, Team B.C., featuring Craig Lepine, Stan Walker, Craig McLeod and Mike Pelech, finished 3-3 in their pool round robin, tied for third with P.E.I. and Newfoundland, but those two teams advanced to the championship pool as they had both defeated B.C. Team B.C. finished with a 4-5 record after all play.
