The Special Olympics Oceanside is holding its Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort on June 9.
The fundraising event will feature an array of prizes as well as a silent auction. One particular prize that will be a big draw is the 2018 Hyundai Tucson for the Hole-In-One.
The public can participate in the event by golfing, having dinner, or by taking advantage of the many opportunities to show support.
Special Olympics programs give athletes the chance to gain skills – in sports and in life – and to improve their health while enjoying training that could take them to competitions at local, regional, national and international levels.
The benefits go well beyond the basics said communications co-ordinator Christine Neeter. Through Special Olympics, she said, athletes experience joy and acceptance, cultivate friendships and self-confidence, and feel empowered to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Special Olympics Oceanside offers year-round sport programs in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area from Nanoose Bay to Deep Bay. These programs bring pride, accomplishment, and growth for athletes and volunteers alike and currently provides training and competition in nine individual and team sports for 48 athletes.
One hundred per cent of all funds raised from the golf tournament will go towards the Oceanside athletes.
