Residents of Parksville have until tomorrow (Wed., Feb. 2) to enter their nominations for the Glassies community awards.
Sponsored by the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce, the Glassies highlight the best in community service and business from 2010.
Chamber member and event organizer Rhiannon Whitney says the 10th annual Glassies awards will be held at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre — and include an evening of music and dancing.
“We will have a band — Ask Alice — and it turns into a social evening afterwards,” she explained.
The Glassies awards — given to Parksville’s citizen and business of the year, as well as top volunteer, youth, community builder and more — will be handed out on March 4. Whitney said the committee running the event wants more nominations by Feb. 2 — especially in the environmental sustainability category. Forms can be found at the chamber info centre, at The News office, Quality Foods, Thrifty Foods, the PCCC, MLA Ron Cantelon’s office and online at www.parksvillechamber.com.
“It’s a recognition of all the wonderful people in our community,” Whitney said.
