Parksville’s British Bobby Restaurant will not close after all.

After announcing in December the restaurant would close, proprietor John St John said he and his son Michael are “pooling their knowledge and resources and have a satisfactory agreement to keep the British Bobby open.”

St John said that “thanks to the tremendous support of our customers and the starting of a GoFundMe page”, the decision was made to move ahead.

In December, St John said “COVID comes in and just pulls the rug out from underneath us” and planned an auction of the restaurant’s memorabilia and decorations.

The restaurant will close from Feb. 21 to March 1 for renovations, reopening on March 2.

“There will a few changes to the menu but, of course [we] will be keeping up with our great fish and chips tradition,” said St John, adding his family and staff wished to “thank everyone for all their support in making this all possible.”
