Weed killer facing ban

Costmetic pesticides under the microscope

NDP leader Adrian Dix has proposed legislation to ban the use of cosmetic pesticides in B.C., then challenged Premier Christy Clark to take action on a bill she says she supports.

Clark replied she has supported such a ban for years. She said she wants to work with the opposition and the public to work out the best way to further restrict the use of lawn and garden weed killers.

Clark stopped short of saying the B.C. Liberal government would support the NDP bill. Clark also repeatedly referred to cosmetic pesticides as the target of the proposed legislation.
