The 100 Men of Oceanside have made their latest charitable donation.
The group recently presented the Oceanside Special Olympics Committee with a cheque for $15,000.
"This donation will enable the Oceanside Special Olympics Committee to assist local athletes acquire required sports equipment and uniforms, offset entry and transportation costs, all of which will allow these athletes to more fully participate in athletic competitions around British Columbia," said the group in a press release.
Accepting the $15,000 cheque from Kim Burden of the 100 Men group was Barb McLeod, local co-ordinator and Jayne Young, Volunteer co-ordinator of the Oceanside Special Olympics Committee. The presentation of the cheque was witnessed by participating athletes Sheldon, Stephanie, Brandy and Shane, as well as other members of both organizations.
The next meeting of the 100 Men of Oceanside will take place Nov. 6 (7 p.m.) at Morningstar Golf Club in Parksville. A social hour starting at 6 p.m. will precede the meeting and is open to all members, guests and men interested in participating in the organization.
The group is actively recruiting new members and any man residing in the PQB area who is interested in joining the work of the 100 Men of Oceanside is welcome and can get more information (and sign up to participate) by going to the website at 100oceansidemen.ca or by emailing info@100oceansidemen.ca or by coming to the November meeting and social.
Since its inception in December 2019, the 100 Men group has contributed more than $200,000 to Oceanside charitable groups.
