Art show deals with the treatment of animals

Parksville-An art exhibition surrounding the treatment of animals is currently hanging at the McMillan Arts Centre

An art exhibition surrounding the treatment of animals in society is currently hanging at the McMillan Arts Centre (the MAC).

The show, called Animals in the Humanscape, features Island artists and beyond.

The artwork looks at how some animals live as cherished pets while others get pushed out of their habitats, used as live factory products, used for medical research and some have become extinct.

Artists in the show include Jeff Hartbower, Laurie Bartlett, Teresa Knight, Martha Jablonski-Jones, Anne Birthistle, and Graham Harrop.

An opening reception takes place this Friday where the public can meet the artists and enjoy refreshments, accompanied by background music. Admission is free.
