The Sea Thirft Artisan Boutique, located at 676 Memorial Ave. in Qualicum Beach, is holding a raffle to benefit the Oceanside Hospice Society.
Owner of the boutique, Karalena Walsh, said she chose to do so since the society helps out many area families, including her own.
“I think it’s important for the role that they play in the community,” said Walsh. “They really helped out when I lost my aunt and uncle within a year of each other, and our family went through a really hard time.”
She continued to say that her drive for their continued efforts stems from the fact that the society needs to fundraise 65 per cent of their operating costs.

This year’s raffle is not the first time Walsh and family member, Lisa Smith-Lanty, have raised money for the Oceanside Hospice Society.
In previous years, they arranged ‘A Very Merry Christmas Market’ at the Qualicum Beach Community Hall, also in aid for the society.
The raffle consists of three prizes; a $10 ticket for an artisan basket worth $180; a $25 ticket for an artisan basket worth $300; and a $50 ticket for an artisan basket worth $500, which also includes an original oil painting by Errington artist Margery Blom.
Walsh said, with the raffle, she hopes to raise at least $2000 for the hospice society this year and will continue until the cutoff date of Sept. 15.
