Berwick Qualicum Beach hosts first-ever Spring Tea Fashion Show

Residents walk runway, with proceeds to Haven Society charity

Fresh fashions and fun times were had when Berwick Qualicum Beach hosted their first-ever Spring Tea Fashion Show the afternoon of March 9.

Models included 15 Berwick Qualicum Beach residents, five employees and special guest model Neel Patel from Qualicum Beach Bakery, according to a news release.

The models strutted the runway while decked out in clothing from Arbutus Fashions and Open Collar Men.

The tone was set by Jack Brygidyr playing piano to welcome guests in the main dining room, which was decorated with a spring tulip theme.

After welcoming guests, the models walked the catwalk through the dining room with Jean Young, owner of Arbutus Fashions, describing the women’s clothing and Ethan Elsom from Open Collar Men announcing the menswear and accessories.

Proceeds from ticket sales went to local charity Haven Society and $1,700 was raised.

Young offered draw prizes of fabulous clothing and accessories from her shop at 147 Second Ave W. Terry Doyle, owner of Open Collar Men (138 Second Ave W), closed the show announcing that everyone can be a model before a surprise grand finale showcase from underwear model Duncan.

Special thanks to Doyle, Gena Farrell and Elsom from Open Collar Men and Young and Lesley Hime from Arbutus Fashions, as well as Camila Shinohara and Tracey De Frane from Haven Society for making this event such a success.
