Dementia workshop comes to Nanoose

The Sept. 13 session highlights how to support people living with dementia

The non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C. will bring its Dementia Friends workshop to the Nanoose Bay area on Thursday, Sept. 13. The free session provides an opportunity to enhance knowledge of how to best support people living with dementia.

Participants will get an introduction to dementia that will help them recognize when someone may be living with the disease. The session includes strategies and tips for communicating with people who are living with dementia and information on where to get more help.

The session runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nanoose Bay Community Centre, 2925 Northwest Bay Rd. Pre-registration is required by contacting 250-734-4170 or rphilbrook@alzheimerbc.org.
