A Dinner & Art for A Cause will aim to raise funds for the Mount Arrowsmith Salvation Army.

The event, organized by artist Derek Rickwood, will be held Nov. 25 at the Morningstar Golf Course Grill Restaurant in Parksville, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Rickwood said it’s a way of promoting the work the Salvation Army does in the community and also assist artists, who will have their works displayed and included in a silent auction.

Ten per cent of any sales would be donated to the Salvation Army and for those who are not interested in buying can simply donate to the organization.

“We’re not charging anyone to attend,” said Rickwood. “It’s a way for people to have a nice dinner and at the same time learn about the cause.”

The opening bids for the silent auction will start at 6 p.m. and will close at 8:30 p.m.

The artists involved in the event include Lisa Rickwood (mixed media/oil, photographer and author); Michael Rickwood (photographer); Don Bonner (artisan); Russell Scow (sculptor); Greg McRae (photographer); Rod Corraini (painter) and Marie Rickwood (author).

Derek Rickwood said the event is also a way of promoting the restaurant and bringing some business to the establishment.
