Editing workshop at the MAC

Hosted by freelance editor, newspaper journalist and editor from Salt Spring

Professional freelance book editor Cheryl Cohen is bringing her popular Editing Workshop ... for writers too to the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville on October 26.

The early bird deadline to register has been extended to Oct. 16, because the MAC was shut for renovations throughout September.

Cohen has been a freelance book editor for 16 years, and has worked on many high-profile works of fiction and non-fiction for Toronto and West Coast publishers. Before that, she was a newspaper journalist for two decades, her positions included books editor and news editor of The Globe and Mail.

Workshop topics include substantive editing, copy editing and proofreading; the editor–writer relationship; tools and resources; how to become a professional editor or a good self-editor; why the future of editing looks bright; and some “hands-on” fun with editing.

The October 26 workshop takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $85 for early birds, or $100; space is limited. For more information or to register, email cherylcohen@shaw.ca or phone Cohen at 1-250-538-8172.  Visit her website: www.cherylcohen.ca.
