Errington comes alive

At what other event in Oceanside can one expect to see a big, burly skirt-clad man vying for a beauty queen crown mixed in with zucchini races, music, a parade, a dance and other family fun besides Errington’s Hi Neighbour Day? This year’s event boasted hot weather and a blue, sunny sky, resulting in a big turnout, great costumes and a whole lot of sometimes edgy family fun. Here, (clockwise from top) the colourful parade marches past the Errington Store. The annual Miss Errington pageant saw “Alessandra” from Libya put on an impressive belly dance. Carmanagh Carson-Austin provides a fairlyland escort to princess riders Julia and Emily Elgood. Ralph Christian shows its never too late to realize dreams of being a fireman — at least in the Hi Neighbour Day parade. Dan Gray paints at the Errington Farmers Market. Steve Scott shows off the prize exhibit in his self-styled Errington Preschool Co-Op Zoo, his one-year-old daughter Anna.
