The Fibre Art Network is exhibiting 60 pieces of work at The Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach June 4-23.

All three galleries at TOSH will be filled with fibre arts to celebrate the Parksville Quilt Show June 22-24.

Fibre Art Network (FAN) is a co-operative of self-defined artists based in western Canada, according to the group’s website.

FAN, started in the spring of 1998 in B.C., is committed to promoting fibre as an art form.

The group has members from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

FAN member Coreen Zerr said the theme for the exhibition at TOSH is Botanical Reflections.

She said the exhibition, now going into its second year, will run for two years in different galleries all over Canada.

“This show started its journey at the Van Dusen gardens and has travelled around B.C. and into other parts of the west (of Canada),” Zerr said.

Botanical Reflections, according to FAN’s website, is an exhibition of mixed-media fibre arts and each piece is a personal interpretation of a botanical theme based on each artist’s vision.

Zerr said each piece in the exhibition is the same size; 12 inches by 24 inches.

Just this past weekend at Quilt Canada 2018 in Vancouver, Zerr said, four members of FAN won awards. Those artists, she said, will have some of their work as part of the display at TOSH (122 Fern Rd., Qualicum Beach).

Two of them, Robin Fischer and Judy Leslie, will also be holding a lecture in Parksville June 22 at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre as part of the Parksville Quilt Show 2018.

Fischer and Leslie will have some of their pieces on display and will be speaking on the processes used to create their pieces.

Tickets can be pre-purchased through Zerr at corsew@shaw.ca. For more information, visit www.parksvillequiltshow2018.com.
