The Hands & Hearts Food Program, formerly District 69 Backpack Program, has planned a fundraising event for Nov. 4 in Parksville.

All proceeds from the Falling into Fashion event will go to the Hands & Hearts Food Program, which fights food insecurity and provides monthly food hampers to over 80 families, ensuring they have enough to eat for the entire month.

The program was established by Virginia Worcester 11 years ago and also provides special hampers and gifts during Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving.

Falling into Fashion will be held at the Parksville Quality Foods (371 Alberni Hwy) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $30 and include admission, a welcome glass of Prosecco and a swag bag.

They can be purchased at Champagne Boutique in Qualicum Beach or online at Champagneboutique.ca.

The Hands & Hearts Food Program is is a registered charity. It is run completely by volunteers, so 100 per cent of donations go to purchasing food.

Families receive healthy food such as bread, cereal, milk, peanut butter, jam, pasta, pasta sauce, tuna and soups, which allows them to assemble nutritious meals over the weekend and over the school week if necessary.

The program serves families at all Qualicum School District schools, from Nanoose Bay to Bowser.
