Hundreds pay respects at Remembrance Day ceremony in Parksville

Event was blessed with good weather

Hundreds of residents, young and old, took part in the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in Parksville on Saturday morning (Nov. 11).

The event was blessed with blue skies and warmer temperatures, making it pleasant for everyone as they pay their respects to the fallen and honour the sacrifices they made for the freedom and peace that we enjoy today.

A parade kicked off the ceremony with the Mount Arrowsmith Pipe Band playing a resonant melody leading the parade that featured the Royal Canadian Legion, Mount Arrowsmith, Branch 49 colour guards, veterans as well as members of the boys scouts and girl guides of Parksville Qualicum Beach.

The Last Post was performed by trumpeter Nick Rivers of Parksville, which was followed by a a moment of silent and reflection. The the wreath-laying ceremony was held.
