Organizers are already planning next year's Route 19A Music Festival, but with a new name: the Salish Coast Music Festival.

The inaugural festival was a success and sold 70 per cent of seats, with approximately 800 residents and visitors attending at least one of the seven performances, according to organizer Valerie Dare.

At least nine concerts are already being planned for next summer in Coombs, Errington, Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

The festival will again feature Vancouver Island musicians, as well as welcome Mainland artists who will perform with local musicians. Organizers hope to include other genres like film and storytelling in combination with music.

Sponsors for the 2024 festival were the Province of BC, Regional District of Nanaimo, Coastal Credit Union, Qualicum Beach Bakery and Cafe and Mulberry Bush Book Store. Contributing organizations were the Oceanside Community Arts Council, Parksville Downtown Business Association and the Oceanside Folk/Roots Club.

Next year's festival will run from Aug. 29 to Sept.14.
