Gray’s winning poem:

We Remember Them

Vibrant poppies

Scattered across the frosted grass

Remind us of the lives lost

So long ago

We remember the gruesome, ugly scenes

Frozen in time

Innocent young souls gone from the Earth Forever

As we bow our heads in solemn remembrance

To the brave soldiers who fought for our country

The trumpet plays an eerie, slow tune

That sends shivers down our spines

We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice

We thank those who fought in wars for our freedom

We honour those who live with painful memories

Of family or friends they would never see again.

We remember them.
