Longtime Parksville volunteer celebrates 90th birthday with drive-by parade

More than 100 cupcakes presented to Pow to mark occasion

Martha Pow, an active volunteer in Parksville Qualicum Beach, celebrated her 90th birthday on June 14.

A surprise drive-by parade was held for Pow, who was also presented with more than 100 cupcakes by family and friends to mark the occasion. She also received approximately 180 cards, doubling the goal of her family of 90 cards for her 90th birthday.

Pow is known in the community for her volunteer work at Knox United Church, Parksville Curling Club, Parksville Lawn Bowling Club, Parksville Seniors Centre and Milner Gardens.

She said she would like to thank the Parksville Fire Department, the RCMP and The Lounge for helping to make the day a huge success.
