This photo shows Michael Godding with his replica of a 1943 Volkswagen Schwimmwagen.
The hand-built vehicle is based on a photo taken in 1944 which shows Canadian soldier sitting in a newly-captured Schwimmwagen, which was developed for the German military during the Second World War and was fully amphibious in 4wd and in first gear.
