The owner-operator of the Borealis Hair Bar in Qualicum Beach is looking for a few good women who will surrender their hair to her stylists and be models for her annual cocktail party being held on Wednesday, February 29.
Virginia Worcester is changing things up a bit for the annual hair and fashion show at the Thalassa Restaurant at the Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club. She said they will be modeling spring outfits from Close to You in Parksville like they have in past but this year they will also style and cut hair during the show. Several models will have their hair colored and styled in the salon ahead of the show, but she said they will have four models get their locks cut during the event.
"I have hired two new girls and I would like to introduce them to the community and show off their talents. Four of us will each do a different bob cut during the show," she stated.
The models must agree to get a complete make-over that includes a colour and a cut and Worcester is confident she will find people willing to make a major change.
"Usually we just have to talk to them and get them out of their comfort zone. My clients let me do what I want with their hair. People have to be willing to surrender their hair to us and let us do what we think will look best."
Aside from the fashion show the night of fun includes cocktails, a mix and mingle including mini hair-dos, makeovers, chair massage, bra fittings and a motivational talk from Wanetta Beale. The Qualicum Beach dynamo who has competed in Ironman Canada and cycled across Canada on a 100 per cent raw vegan diet is an engaging speaker and will talk about empowerment.
Worcester said they have invited a representative from Paul Mitchell who will have the latest hair products and will show women how to use them to achieve this seasons hottest looks. She said they will be showing women the different techniques that create the latest styles.
"There are a lot of styling tools out there and people don't know how to use them," admitted Worcester.
There are only 100 tickets for the event which goes from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 29 and they usually sell out quickly. For tickets or to be a model call 250-752-1828.
