In partnership with the City of Parksville, the Parksville Downtown Business Association’s (PDBA) new gateway signs will be installed this week and next.

The gateway signs will let people know when they are entering Parksville’s downtown.

The signs are part of the PDBA’s wayfinding program which incorporates colourful street banners that define the boundaries of the Business Improvement Area to improve connection between the oceanfront Parksville Community Park and the commercial area. The goal is to provide a sense of place, boost the economy and add to the downtown vibe.

Pedestrian wayfinding reduces visitor frustration, according the PDBA’s website. It improves the pedestrian experience and helps them reach their destination. Way finding components include websites, directional signage, place identification, maps, clearly defined paths and streets, and prominent landmarks.
