This holiday season, the Oceanside RCMP were pleased to deliver Christmas hampers full of toys, clothing, food and gift cards to nine single-parent families and 21 children in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.
According to a release on Dec. 30 by Sgt. Chris Manseau, division media relations officer, the hampers were delivered to families on Wednesday (Dec. 22) by police, victim services and restorative justice staff.
Since 2016, a caring local family which wishes to remain anonymous has donated money, purchased items and decorated hampers for families in need in Parksville Qualicum Beach. The tradition continued this year along with donations from RCMP staff, restorative justice, police based victim services, sources Oceanside resource centre, Red Apple, Boston Pizza, Thrifty Foods and Save-On-Foods.
“This caring tradition of helping community members during the holidays has brought joy and happiness to many families over the years. Everyone at the Oceanside RCMP thanks the local organizing family, agencies and business for their generosity and thoughtfulness in their support of families in need,” said Sgt. Shane Worth, operations support NCO with Oceanside RCMP.
