Oceanside recreation grants totaling $32,000 awarded to 15 PQB groups

The Regional District of Nanaimo has approved grants for 15 organizations totalling $32,000 to be used for a variety of community and recreation focused projects.

The grants were awarded through three programs: Oceanside Recreation Services Youth Grants, Oceanside Recreation Services Community Grants and Oceanside Community Safety Grants.

Recreation grants support recreation programs, special events or projects which benefit specific communities in the Oceanside area. Safety grants support programs and services that help increase safety in the community.

The funding was allocated as follows:

Oceanside Recreation Services Youth (11-18 years) Grants: $6,500 total awarded

• MAC School for the Creative Arts: $2,500

• Ravensong Aquatic Club: $2,500

• The Old School House Arts Centre: $1,500

Oceanside Recreation Services Community (all ages) Grants: $22,200 total awarded

• Bow Horne Bay Community Club: $2,500

• Errington War Memorial Hall Association: $1,400

• MAC School for the Creative Arts: $2,500

• Oceanside Floor Curling Club: $2,000

• Parksville Community Centre Society: $1,800

• Parksville Indoor Slow-pitch League: $2,000

• VanIsle Walking Soccer: $2,500

• Ravensong Waterdancers Synchro Club: $2,500

• Shorewood San Pareil Owners and Ratepayers Association: $2,500

• Oceanside Track and Field Club (spring application): $2,500

Oceanside Community Safety Grants: $3,500 total awarded

• Arrowsmith Independent School: $2,500

• Mid Island Air Search and Rescue Society: $1,000
