Parksville Bottle Depot donates funds to North Island Wildlife Rescue Association

$3,000 cheque presented to NIWRA

The Parksville Bottle Depot recently presented a $3,000 donation to the non-profit North Island Wildlife Rescue Association.

Owner Major Rai said it’s their way of giving back to the community.

“Throughout the year we’ve been giving out donations to local charities, sports teams, youth organizations. That’s all through community sports,” said Rai. “The residents of Parksville are great for recycling and showing their community support. And everybody benefits and appreciate that.”

The North Island Wildlife Rescue Association welcomes any donations and support. The centre takes care of ill, injured and orphaned wild animals and rehabilitates them for release back into the wild. As well, the centre educates the public on wildlife and environmental issues.

Currently, the centre has five orphaned cubs that are being raised up for release sometime in the spring or summer of 2023.

For more information on how to donate, you can visit the NIWRA website at https://www.niwra.org/
