There were hot dogs a plenty on Friday, May 19, when the Parksville Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Parksville AM banded together for a fundraiser kickoff.
Hot dogs and pop could be purchased by donation, with the money going towards new water park equipment at Parksville Community Park. The aging equipment will be used for the last time this summer before the city tears it out in September.
The clubs, along with the Ballenas Interact Club, are working to raise $100,000 for new waterpark equipment, which would hopefully be ready by the same time next year, said Michael Garland with the Lions Club.
The City of Parksville has committed to contributing $200,000 of the $300,000 total needed. The province has also given $20,000 towards new equipment, said Garland, in addition to $1,000 raised by the Interact Club.
The line-up for hot dogs quickly grew long, with many people young and old enjoying the warm day and water park equipment, and eager to partake in the fundraiser.
