Parksville Community Centre facility on Jensen Avenue re-opens June 25

Building is the new home of the BGC Parksville Child and Family Centre

The City of Parksville invites children and their families, youth, residents and the public to the official reopening of the Parksville Community Centre, new home of the BGC Parksville Child and Family Centre.

The event kicks off Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m. and runs until noon at 132 Jensen Avenue East, according to a news release by the city.

“We hope you will join the City of Parksville and BGC Central Vancouver Island (BGCCVI) as we proudly showcase and celebrate the renovated facility and 91 new childcare spaces,” reads the release.

The event will include kids’ entertainment, craft activities and games, storytelling, refreshments and a chance to tour the updated facility, which includes renovated community space.

BGCCVI will host a hiring fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The new childcare spaces will include 37 for infants to school-age and 54 spaces for school-age children, as well as youth and parent programs, and community use space.

In May 2021, the city was awarded a $2,034,829 grant to complete significant renovations to the centre to facilitate the new childcare spaces and community programming.
