If you want to make your car sparkle and shine but aren’t crazy about doing it yourself, Parksville firefighters can lend a helping hand… and it’s all for charity.

With sponges in hand, the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department will host a charity car wash, rain or shine, to support the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.

In return for a donation, firefighters will wash vehicles between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at the Parksville Firehall (160 Jensen Ave.).

Firefighters will donate their time to see just how many cars, motorcycles, or scooters (the dirtier the better) they can wash for this great cause.

No vehicle? The public is welcome to come by the firehall and watch the fun.

Visitors to the car wash will remain in their vehicles for safety reasons. As well as washing cars in return for a donation, crews will be on hand to chat about being a paid on-call firefighter with the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department.

The BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund provides lifesaving, life-supporting, and life-enriching services to people across British Columbia. Further information on the burn fund can be found at www.burnfund.org.
