Over the next few months, Parksville Fire Department members will be at community events to chat with residents about home fire safety, how to use a fire extinguisher and information about being a paid on-call volunteer firefighter.
Parksville Spring Home Show
Fire department members will be at the Parksville Spring Home Show from June 3 to June 5 to promote home fire safety. Residents can learn about smoke alarms, home fire sprinklers, carbon monoxide alarms and home escape plans.
Residents will have an opportunity to use the department’s digital training prop to learn how to use a fire extinguisher safely and efficiently. There will also be a home fire sprinkler display, recruiting information and a variety of home fire safety handouts.
The Parksville Spring Home Show will be held at Oceanside Place (830 Island Highway West), booth 44:
Friday, June 3: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, June 4: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 5: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Summer by the Sea Street Market on Craig Street
Tuesday evenings from June 14 until Aug. 30, the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce will host the Summer by the Sea Street Market on Craig Street in Parksville. Parksville Fire Department members will be at the market to answer questions about fire safety and what’s involved in being a firefighter. As well, the department will have fire services equipment on site.
June 14 to Aug. 9: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (No Parksville Fire Department attendance on Aug. 2)
Aug. 16 to Aug. 30: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Popup Waterparks
Four popup waterparks will be held this summer, from 6 p.m until 7.30 p.m. More information will be available closer to those dates.
