The Rotary Club of Parksville Am donated proceeds from their weekend bottle drive to the School District 69 Backpack Program.
Club president Bashir El-Khalafawi handed a cheque in the amount of $3,450 to Virginia Worcester, the founder and co-ordinator of the backpack program, which helps keep children from going hungry during the weekend. The concept is to provide children every Friday with backpacks filled with easy-to-prepare food that are nutritious and non-perishable.
