The Bayside Racquets Club is celebrating Women’s Squash Week, from Sept. 18 to Oct. 1.
The club is hosting a Ladies Open House at the Bayside Hotel on Sept. 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s one of the many events taking place provincewide to celebrate women and girls in squash.
Anyone wishing to attend and learn about the sport, can rsvp to baysideracquets@gmail.com. Participants will get a chance to learn the basics of game and also try it out themselves.
The event is free of charge and is a way of attracting more women to play squash.

Prior to COVID, the club in 2019-2020 had 39 active members and they’re hoping to move forward with new members, both male and female.
Squash is a fun and challenging sport that is fast-paced. It helps improve fitness that include cardiovascular benefits, burns calories, increase strength and endurance, agility and enhances co-ordination. It also provides a valuable social component where you can meet new friends and acquaintances.
The club is also gearing up for the coming season and is set to start its mixed squash league on Oct. 3. If anyone wants more information they can call Trish at 250-744-0528. There will also be drop-ins.
