Lindsay Pilton and Bill Collette invite everyone to a delicious fundraiser June 4 at Boston Pizza while Pilton continues to collect coins for juvenile diabetes.

Lindsay Pilton and her team Lindsay’s Lucky Charms raised over $8,000 for juvenile diabetes last year and they hope to top that this year.

Pilton is raising funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and awareness of juvenile, or type 1 diabetes, and how it is completely different from type 2, which is usually diagnosed in adults.

This year she continues the successful penny drive that helped her become the region’s biggest fundraiser last year and she’s also looking for more support from local businesses, pointing out donations help all children suffering with diabetes.

The autoimmune disease strikes suddenly and leaves people dependent on many finger pokes and insulin injections a day for life.

Family friend, fellow diabetes sufferer and Parksville Boston Pizza owner Bill Collette said they are throwing a big fundraiser for the team on Saturday, June 4, the day before the 5 km Telus Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes in Nanaimo.

They are still finalizing the details but will be asking customers to help Pilton’s campaign in some way like donating a portion from each burger sold and/or the company donating the amount the staff raise in tips.

To donate and for more information check lindsaypilton.webstarts.com or click the “donate now” tab at www.jdrf.ca and search “Pilton.” Call the Piltons at 250-752-3848 to donate or sponsor the team.
