Parksville-Qualicum MLA Adam Walker recently presented three PQB community members with the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal. The commendation recognizes their exceptional contributions and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the area.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal, introduced to commemorate His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation as King of Canada, is awarded to individuals who exemplify the values of service, environmental stewardship, and diversity, according to a press release.
“Our communities are the tapestry woven by individuals who dedicate themselves to making a difference. Their volunteerism, public service, and unwavering commitment to others are the true threads that bind us together,” said Walker. “It's the selfless acts of kindness and service that truly shape the enduring spirit of our communities. To all who volunteer their time, serve their neighbours, and make a positive impact, we say thank you."

Verna Jenkins
A dedicated member of The Society of Organized Services (SOS) since 1968, Verna contributes significantly to the organization’s success. Her tireless volunteer efforts, particularly in the SOS Thrift Shop, have been invaluable. Even during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Verna’s commitment remained steadfast as she continued to actively participate in volunteer events, embodying the spirit of service and camaraderie. Her dedication and unwavering commitment serve as an inspiration to us all.
Ian Lindsay
Ian’s commitment to community began in the early 1980s when he joined the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach. Since, he’s played key roles in local projects, such as leading the committee that built the Civic Centre and serving on planning committees for the Ravensong swimming pool complex. His efforts to preserve the environment culminated in saving the Heritage Forest from development. Additionally, Ian provided planning and fundraising support for organizations like Arrowsmith Search and Rescue and Milner Gardens. His dedication to youth development has been evident through his founding and running of the Kwalicum Secondary School Fine Arts Society, organizing community concerts, and creating a Trades Fair for students. His efforts have significantly improved the quality of life in Oceanside.
Pat Weber
Pat’s indisputable devotion to community service has been evident throughout his long career. As a steadfast volunteer, he has served on boards for numerous local organizations, including the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation, the Qualicum Beach Seniors’ Activities Centre, the Kiwanis Housing Society, and the French Creek Residents Association. His leadership and expertise have been instrumental in various initiatives, from building affordable housing and preserving natural areas to organizing community events and promoting leadership development. Pat’s passion for giving back to his community has earned him recognition and awards, including life memberships in the Lumen Institute of Canada and the Korean Christopher Leadership Centre. His tireless efforts have made a significant positive impact on the Qualicum Beach region.
