Province doles out $263K in funding to PQB community organizations

A dozen groups will benefit from Community Gaming Grants funding

The MLA for Parksville-Qualicum says people who receive services from local non-profits will benefit from provincial funding to improve community health, accessibility and well-being.

“Oceanside is full of hardworking and caring people who provide services that community members rely on through these organizations,” said Adam Walker. “Our government recognizes how vital their role is and that’s why we are investing in their work.”

More than 10 organizations in the PQB region received approximately $263,000 in funding through the human and social services stream of the Community Gaming Grants program.

This year, the provincial government will distribute more than $61 million in grants to 1,364 human and social services organizations around B.C. This funding means people can continue access to services such as food banks, children and youth programs, mental health supports and other services that enhance health and well-being.

Central Island Independent School Society – $35,000

Rotary Club of Lantzville Society – $18,000

Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak – $16,500

Knights of Columbus Ascension Council #7991 – $26,000

Navy League of Canada – Oceanside Branch – $4,900

Oceanside Building Learning Together Society – $24,000

Parksville Lions Club – $10,000

Sunrise Preschool Association – $8,500

Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #589 – $15,000

Oceanside Hospice Society – $94,000

Parksville Qualicum 4-H District Council – $7,000

The Air Cadet League of Canada, 893 Beaufort Squadron Sponsoring Committee – $4,100
