Errington’s Silver Meadows Farm hosted its 10th annual Harvest Festival Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017.

For many passersby, it may have looked more like the 10th annual pumpkin parade.

Hundreds of children, from the local area and elsewhere on Vancouver Island, flocked with their parents to the market farm to race through the corn maze, enjoy a hay-wagon ride, play pumpkin bowling, ride a pony from Tiger Lily Farm or get their faces painted. And, of course, pick up a pumpkin to carry home from the farm’s popular U-pick pumpkin patch.

Along with fresh items from the farm market, which did a brisk business, guests were also treated to a concession featuring hot dogs, corn on the cob and chili in a fundraiser hosted by the Errington Elementary School PAC.

Cars lined both sides of Errington Road leading to the farm from each direction, and a steady stream of pumpkin-toting tots and parents could be seen marching from the festival at the end of the afternoon.

Admission this year was by donation, with all proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital. Silver Meadows Farm is located at 1019 Errington Rd. Learn more at www.facebook.com/silvermeadowserrington.
