Qualicum Beach firefighters gear up for food and toy drive

Organizers are hoping for a strong response to annual campaign

Members of the local volunteer fire departments and search and rescue have begun gearing up for their annual Christmas food and toy drive, set for Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18.

The Qualicum Beach Fire Department will have trucks circulating through neighbourhoods from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to collect donations of non-perishable foods.

There will also be drop off locations at Qualicum Foods, and the BC Government Liquor Store on Primrose Street.

The following day, Qualicum Beach residents will be encouraged to drop of food donations at the fire hall between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  There is also a donation bin in the lobby entrance of the Qualicum Town hall.

Meanwhile, firefighters from the Parksville Fire Department will be going door-to-door from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.  Donations can also be taken to Quality Foods in Parksville, the Salvation Army or dropped of at the fire hall on Jensen Avenue.
