The Qualicum Beach Pipe Band was victorious in a number of competitions held at the Campbell River Highland Gathering this past weekend.

Qualicum Beach took first place for in the Grade 4 band competition led by Shannon Pennington Larochelle, who was pipe major for the competition. The drums corp, anchored by lead side drummer Sheldon Murphy, captured first place in the drum fanfare competition. The Qualicum Beach Pipe Band also finished first in its category of the “Celts have talent” contest. Brian Beck, piper, competed and placed in the individual competitions winning first place and the Jeanie Hendra Trophy in the Adult Grade 4, 2/4 March and Beck placed second in the Adult Grade 4, 6/8 march.

The drummers and pipers were sporting new kilts, of the Hunting MacMillan tartan which were donated by the Dutton Family of Qualicum Beach. The band is sponsored by the Qualicum Beach Legion Branch 76.
