Regional District of Nanaimo photo contest winners announced

More than 200 submissions captures diversity, beauty of the region

The Regional District of Nanaimo Photo Contest received more than 200 submissions that featured an array of stunning photos.

The contest closed on Aug. 31 and participants captured the diversity and beauty of the region. Their shots highlighted neighbouring islands and cityscapes, to wildlife and people enjoying our great outdoors.

Over 200 photos showcased the best of the RDN and the exceptional photography skills of residents. From an incredible selection of photos from so many talented individuals, the RDN is pleased to announce the winning photographers and photos:

• Enjoying Our Great Outdoors: Sunset Paddle in Nanoose by Tracy L.

• My Hometown: Alone, Shack Island by Gordon P.

• Going Green: Local Organic Honey by Angie O.

• Your Region (Youth): Neck Point Park by Finn H.

• People’s Choice Award: A Chinook’s Lunch by Saffron C.

All category winners will receive a $100 gift card to a local business of their choice. In addition, all photographers were entered into a draw. The winner of the $100 gift card draw prize is David A.

The RDN hosts the public photo contest every other year so photographers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to continue taking photos throughout the region.
